The universe never said you are significant or insignificant.
But we, humans that way. But i don't know why we blame universe for that. It is
obvious that we are here, why can't we just enjoy the being herenow than putting some "abstract" labels upon our existence in this present time. Also people have another abstract word which works fine in building guilt in every weak or some times big hearts. It is called the "Purpose in life". I once seriously meditated about this word of "being a purposeful human being", but it fell off like a card house. The more deeper i thought about what will be purpose of my existence here in this universe as a human being, it seems pretty much that universe can replace anyone with the name of mine and can continue the process. But the above thought is based on the idea of "Universe as a grand machine, which is working full time from the beginning". I remember alan watts calling this as an "newtonion view of the universe". If yes then i am just a simple cog who is basically stuck in a very big machine just to bring an output which i will never know what it is. Don't say you know, you don't. I talked to my watch's cog wheels, they said they never know the concept of time, so we are basically filling up our empty heads with these conceptual abstract ideas rather than just happily goofing around.
But wait, just don't see this note as some kind of debunking ideas which we live according to and proving them to be wrong. No it isn't. I would say that the conclusions we laid upon the way the life and universe has some psychological and even physiological effects.
